Homemade Deodorants
It's both natural and healthy to sweat or perspire if you sit in the heat of the sun, do exercise in the gym and are engaged in giving a presentation at work. But sometimes excessive perspiration may embarrass you because of the odor produced from it. This unpleasant smell results when the sweat comes into contact with bacteria on your skin. Sweat itself is an odorless liquid.
Normally, a healthy human produces about 1-2 pints of sweat a day. The most effective method to prevent odor coming out from the body is to use deodorant. Frequent use of chemically based commercial products may block the sweat glands and inhibit their natural temperature regulation. While homemade deodorant recipe does not carry any such side effect and are best solution to get rid of offensive unpleasant smell coming out from the sweating body.
People all over the world normally spend hundreds of millions of dollars a year on antiperspirants and deodorants. But this problem could easily be tackled at home by preparing homemade deodorant using natural ingredients.
Following are some methods to keep the offensive odor at bay:
Stick Homemade Deodorant
Ingredients
2 ounces of baking soda
Vodka about one ounce
Beeswax- 8 ounces
Cornstarch—4 ounces
Liquid chorophyll—1 ounce
Distilled water—about 2 ounces
10-15 drops of rose, honeysuckle, coriander oil according to the choice
Method: Mix all the ingredients (except chlorophyll and wax) in a large bowl and stir well. Now melt beeswax in a double boiler over a low flame. Then add chlorophyll and wax to the mixture and blend it well. Leave it for cooling. Then add essential oils and liquid chlorophyll. Now pour this mixture into a mold and leave it for solid. Remove the prepared deodorants from mold and keep in dry cool place. This is one of the useful homemade deodrants.
No-Sweat Tea
Ingredients
One full teaspoon of dried hops
One full teaspoon of fresh rose petals
Stinging nettle, one teaspoon
Four full cups of hot water
Dried leaves of strawberry, one teaspoon
Dried leaves of sage, three full tablespoons
Fresh leaves of walnut-one full teaspoon
Method: Mix all the ingredients well and steep them for about an hour. Then strain the tea and take with honey.
Cream Deodorant
Ingredients
Glycerin one full tablespoon
Cocoa butter - half ounce
Rosewater one full tablespoon
Beeswax - half ounce
Method: First melt the beeswax and cocoa butter in a large boiler. Then add rosewater and glycerin to the mixture followed by few drops of essential oils such as eucalyptus, lemon, sage, calendula, lavender, coriander, thyme or rosemary. If cream is separated, stir the deodorants before using it. This is one of the good
homemade natural deodorant.
Herbal Deodorant Powder
Ingredients
One part of powder of white oak bark as an astringent
Two parts of powder of sandalwood for anti-microbial and fragrance properties
One part of powder of lovage root
Method: Blend all the powders well in a food processor and then put the mixture into a dry or clean iron skillet. Before using it pat bags on the feet and under arms. This is one of the useful homemade deodrant.
Deodorizing Foot Bath
Ingredients
5-6 tablespoon of Epson salts
White vinegar half cup
Warm water about one gallon
Method: Mix Epson salts and white vinegar in warm water and soak the dirty feet in the solution to get rid of sweat and bad smell.
Sage Deodorizing Foot Powder
Ingredients
Sage essential oil—2 or 3 drops
Baking powder— One full tablespoon
Method: Blend both the ingredients in a bowl and shake well. Let it dry for a couple of minutes. This is the effective natural deodrant.
Basic recipe for daily use
Ingredients
2 teaspoon zinc-oxide powder
2/3 cup witch-hazel extract
2 tablespoon Aloe Vera juice
30-40 drops essential oil(s)
30 drops rose-geranium essential oil
Method: Mix zinc-oxide powder and witch-hazel extract in a small bowl and stir well. Then add the Aloe Vera juice and rose-geranium essential oil(s) to the mixture. Put the mixture in a bottle and use it inhibits the proliferation of odor-causing bacteria. This is one of the effectivenatural deodorant recipes.
For Sensitive Skin
Ingredients
30 drops calendula extract
10 drops lavender essential oil
2 teaspoon zinc-oxide powder
2/3 cup witch-hazel extract
2 tablespoon Aloe Vera juice
30-40 drops essential oil(s)
Method: Calendula and lavender oils are although mild but potent fighters of bacteria and inhibit odor. Add both the oils to the mixture of zinc-oxide powder, witch-hazel extract and Aloe Vera juice and blend it well. Store this deodorant in a bottle and use it when required.
2 T. Talcum Powder
7 T. Bicarbonate Soda
2 T. Petroleum Jelly
Mix ingredients on low heat in a sauce pan until creamy. Pour in a small jar with lid.
