How to get rid of Flatulence

Prevention is better than cure. It is certainly the case in flatulence, given that it is a very embarrassing problem to happen. The following are some of the ways in which flatulence can be avoided:-

(i) Most flatulence is caused due to ingesting air directly in the body. This happens when slurping on tea, eating too many hot foods, sitting in a wrong posture while eating, etc. All this must be avoided.

(ii) Avoid smoking. This is one sure way to ingest gas into the body.

(iii) Eat at regular meal times.

(iv) Several foods can cause excessive buildup of gas in the body. Such foods are cabbage, beans, broccoli, cheese, chickpeas, etc. Avoid such foods if you are sensitive to them.

(v) Avoid binging on too much flesh foods.

(vi) Do not consume stale foods. These foods are already decomposing and bacteria are present on them. By eating them, you are allowing the food to continue its decomposition in your digestive system.

(vii) Rather than eating one heavy meal, eat twice or thrice in small quantities. This helps your body to digest the food in a much easier manner.

(viii) Never eat to the full capacity of the stomach. Overloading the stomach makes the digestion difficult and for this reason, gases are accumulated in the abdominal cavity.

(ix) Avoid foods that are difficult to digest. You must avoid all oily and spicy foods.

(x) While eating, do not be hasty. Chew the food properly so that it gets masticated. Note that the major part of digestion of carbohydrate foods happens in the mouth itself. So chewing improperly will cause digestive problems.
