Home Remedies for Gall Bladder Disorders

The most common problem associated with the gallbladder is gallstones, most of which are made up of cholesterol. Gallstones are usually caused by disturbances in the composition of the bile. Some gallstones are made of calcium, and bile pigments. Estrogen levels have been found to be a cause, because of which women get more frequently attacked by this disease. It is said that women have four times more chances than men for the disease. Generally women over 40 years, who are fair-skinned and over-weight tend to have gallstones. Gallstones are essentially caused due to an excessive presence of cholesterol in the bile. But if a person has a faulty weight loss regime, i.e. fluctuates between overweight conditions and slimming by dieting often, then there is an added propensity of getting gallstones.

Sometimes gallbladder is affected by the problem of inflammation and this condition is termed as cholecystitis. The latter condition is termed as cholelithiasis. The former often leads to the latter. Acute or unbearable pain in the abdomen is the most common effect of it. It may also lead to indigestion, gas, a feeling of fullness after meals, constipation and nausea. Intolerance to fats, dizziness, jaundice, anemia, acne, and other lesions may also occur. The main cause of gallbladder disorders is over-nutrition resulting from excessive intake of refined carbohydrates, especially sugar. Over-nutrition also leads to increased cholesterol secretion. Meals rich in fats have greater chances of gallbladder pain or gallstone colic. Other reasons for it are chronic constipation, poor health, hereditary factors and stress. The Chinese people have related gallbladder disorders with the emotion of anger.

Most of the gallstones stay in the gallbladder and cause no symptoms. However, if a stone moves, it may cause obstruction in the neck of the gall bladder or the common bile duct giving rise to severe pain in the upper right side of the abdomen. This stone in the bile duct can also cause jaundice in some cases. In some cases you may not even need to remove these stones by operating upon them; but you can remove them simply by causing it to dissolve into the bile.

Home Remedies for Gall bladder Disorders

One of the good home remedy for gall bladder is to take fresh juices extracted from the beet, cucumber, carrot which are very useful in cleaning the gall bladder. They may be taken in quantity of around 100 milliliters. This is the best remedy; however a combination of all these juices is also a good cleaning source. This juice can be taken twice a day.

The consumption of the pear fruit is also a good remedy. Either the fruit directly or its juice should be taken without any restriction (as much as possible) daily by the patient. It has good healing properties and helps to improve the condition of gallbladder. It also helps in treating gallstones. This is one of the useful natural remedy for gall bladder.

Dandelion is found to have a beneficial effect on the gallbladder. Take approximately about 125 milliliters each of the juices of dandelion and watercress twice in a day. This should be combined with a vegetarian diet, without much sugar and starch. It is suggested that these juices help to make the gallbladder normal. Gall bladder remedy - The application of hot packs or fomentation to the upper abdominal area relieves the patient from the pains of gallstone colic.

Giving the affected person a warm-water enema at body temperature will help eliminate fecal accumulations if the patient is constipated. Physical exercise is also necessary. The surgery becomes necessary only when the gallstones are very large or in cases where they have been present since long period of time. This is a good gall bladder treatment.

The flowers, seeds and roots of chicory or the endive plant are considered the most important for the treatment of gall-bladder disorders. Prepare a decoction of about 30-60 milliliters of the flowers, seeds, or roots and use this three times daily. This will show beneficial results in the treatment of these disorders. The usage of this endive or chicory juice in almost any combination promotes the secretion of bile and is, therefore, very good for both liver and gall-bladder dysfunctions.

Gall bladder cure - Some nature cure practitioners have suggested the use of oil for the removal of gallstones. Raw, natural, unrefined vegetable oils of olive or sunflower can be used for this purpose. Take around 30 ml of vegetable oil, more preferable is olive oil. Take this as the first thing in the morning and follow it immediately with 120 milliliters of grapefruit juice or lemon juice. You may have to repeat this every morning for several days, even weeks, if necessary.

Take four tablespoons of lemon juice daily early in the morning (it should be the first thing you consume in the day; make sure that your stomach is empty). You can continue using this method for about one week or so. You will start seeing the results pretty soon. This is one of the important home remedies for gall bladder.

The diet for an affected person should be lacto-­vegetarian, which gives more emphasis on raw and cooked vegetables, fresh fruits and vegetable juices and a moderate amount of fruits and seeds. This is a good diet for gall bladder.

In situation of acute gallbladder inflammations, the patient should fast for two or three days until the acute condition is cleared. Nothing except water should be taken during the fast. After the fast, the patient should take fruit and vegetable juices for few days. The juices of carrot, beet, grapefruit, pear, lemon or grapes are beneficial in this condition.

New modern studies have shown that drinking coffee can prevent you from getting these gallbladder problems. Drinking a cup of java fruit juice once in a day is helpful. It is said that people who have a habit of drinking two or three cups of coffee in a day have 40% less chance of suffering this disease and those who drink 4 or more have reduced chances up to 45%. This is a good gall bladder home remedies.

Diet for gall bladder - Taking some fiber-rich foods and avoiding the sugary snacks and fatty foods can help you keep your gallbladder healthy. Daily intake of some cereal in the morning will also fill your stomach to a great extent. Studies have shown that without eating, for a long period of time such as skipping breakfast, can make you more prone to getting a gallstone.

An interesting study found that people who eat lots of lentils, nuts, beans, peas, lima beans, and oranges are more resistant to gallbladder attacks than people who do not eat much of these foodstuffs.

Having loads of vitamin C in your diet can help you avoid gallstones. For this take one red bell pepper, it has 95 mg of the helpful vitamin. A recent study found that people who have more vitamin C in their blood are less likely to get painful gallstones. This is one of the effective gall bladder treatment.

Half a glass of wine a day can reduce your chance of gallstone attacks. Scientists discovered that drinking half a glass of wine or beer can cut down the number of gallstone attacks by 40 percent. Be careful as the study does not find that drinking more than half a glass would offer any more protection.

Research have shown that that omega-3 fatty acids, found especially in fatty fish such as salmon, may help you to prevent gallstones.

Natural remedy for gall bladder - Eating veggies is one of the best ways to ward off gallstones. One study has found that vegetarian people were only half as likely to have gallstones as compared to those whose diet included the carnivore foods. Researchers have no clue about exactly how vegetables counteract gallstones, but they believe that vegetables help to reduce the amount of cholesterol in bile.

Drink 8-10 glasses of water in a day; this will help you in maintaining the water content of bile.

Gall bladder remedy - Before taking your breakfast on an empty stomach take one glass of hot water with one tablespoon of common salt added to it. After drinking this water lie down for around 45 minutes on your right side. Perform such activities once or twice a week.

Apply castor oil pack over the gall bladder area. Take a cup of castor oil, and soak a piece of flannel cloth in it. Place this saturated cloth over the gall bladder area, and cover it with plastic. Now over this plastic apply heating pads, and leave it for around 30 minutes. In the beginning, do this once a day for a month. During acute conditions, you can increase the number of packs. This is one of the best home remedies for gall bladder.

Certain spices like turmeric, dried ginger, black pepper, long pepper, asafetida, etc. have property to stimulate the gallbladder to contract. These help in preventing and treating the formation of gallbladder stones. Also they have Ayurvedic medicinal properties.

How to get rid of Gallbladder Disorders

If you are cautious, you can avoid any accumulations of stones in your gallbladder. You will have to take the following preventive measures:-

(i) You should avoid meats, eggs, animal fats and processed and denatured foods.

(ii) Fried foodstuffs should be minimized or if possible completely stopped.

(iii) The diet of the affected person should also exclude refined carbohydrates, especially sugar, sugar products, alcohol, soft drinks, cakes, puddings, ice creams and citrus fruits.

(iv) The patients should be provided with frequent small meals rather than three large meals.

(v) High quality vegetable oil in the diet also prevents gallstone formation.

(vi) Exercise regularly, this will help you to cut down excess fats and reduce the chance of the disease.

(vii) Start losing weight if you are obese; even an excess of 10 pounds of weight can double the chances of the disease.

(viii) However, you must not try to lose weight on immediate basis, go slowly. Sudden weight loss also increases the chance of the disease.

(ix) Avoid fatty substances and take low saturated fat content foods. Do not completely stop taking fatty foods, certain quantity of fats are required for normal functioning of the body.

(x) Constipation is one of the causative factors of all gallbladder disorders. So, you must take adequate measures to avoid this problem.

(xi) Take vitamin C rich food. Include the Indian gooseberry (Emblica officinalis) in your diet as it has a high content of vitamin C.

(xii) Quit smoking and perform regular yoga exercises.

(xiii) Do not overeat as this puts stress on your bladder and increase the chance of the disease.
