Home Remedies for Tuberculosis

Tuberculosis is a very distressing disease, and it used to be a very major cause of death until about a century ago. However, now with improved medicinal measures, the disease has been brought under control and now tuberculosis is not as dangerous as it once used to be.

Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection of the lungs. It is caused due to the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis which generally affects the lungs. The symptoms of tuberculosis aggravate with time. In the beginning, there is a hacking sort of cough, which later develops into chest pain, prolonged coughing and then bringing out blood with the cough. Other symptoms then set in such as fever, chills, sweating in the nights, loss of appetite and weight loss.

Home Remedies for Tuberculosis

Certainly, tuberculosis is a very fatal condition if it is left to get aggravated. Medical help should be sought as soon as possible. But there are some home remedies by which the distressing symptoms of tuberculosis can be kept in check. The following are some of the most effective home remedies to allay some of the symptoms of the condition.

Take five grams of asafetida (Ferula fetida), ten grams of camphor (Cinammomum camphora), ten grams of kattha and ten tender leaves of the neem (Azadirachtha indica). Mix them thoroughly and put them into the juice of the holy basil leaves (known as tulsi, Ocimum sanctum). When the paste is ready, make small pellets of them of the size of chickpeas. Take one of these pellets at a time dipped in rose essence three to four times in a day. This provides relief in tuberculosis. This is one of the useful home remedies for tuberculosis.

Take some leaves of the celery and extract their juices, after properly washing and grinding them. This juice should be taken at regular intervals of an hour in this manner. In the first hour, four tablespoonfuls of the juice must be taken. Then two spoonfuls at a time must be continued in each successive till the time the stools do not become rigid. This treatment helps to gain some control over the loose motions associated with tuberculosis.

Take ten pieces of the black pepper (Piper nigrum) and an equal volume of asafetida (Ferula fetida) that has been fried in ghee. Then add somewhat little proportion of opium in it. Blend the three things properly and then make small pellets of them. Take one pellet of these each time at an interval of six to eight hours. Take the pellets with water. There will be immense relief obtained. This is an effective tuberculosis cure.

The following is a very simple remedy that helps to gain control over some of the drastic symptoms of tuberculosis. Add some pieces of crystallized sugar in clove oil. Take this in small amounts several times in a day.

Crush a nutmeg to powder. Take ten grams of the powder and add some jaggery to it. When it gets to be in a pasty consistency, then make small pellets of it, each having a mass of about three milligrams. These pellets must be had in warm water, one each at every half hour interval. This remedy helps to immediately stop the diarrhea that happens in tuberculosis. This is one of the best home remedies for tuberculosis.

Prepare a fine powder of a single nutmeg. Then add 100 milliliters of oil in it. Cook this on a low flame till they are properly done. When properly blended, this oil is to be massaged properly on the hands and legs of the person. This provides relief from tubercular aches and pains.

One more simple thing that can be done to treat tuberculosis is to consume the juice of an onion repeatedly several times a day. A bit of asafetida can be added to this mixture and taken at half hour intervals to get excellent relief from the tuberculosis.

Diet for tuberculosis - One line of treatment is to take the patient on a total milk diet. As a preparatory step, the person is first kept on a diet of only fruit juices, especially orange juice for a period of three days. When this is done, the milk diet can be begun. The diet is done in this manner: The patient is given a glass of milk each hour from dawn to dusk the first day. Then the next day, the quantity of milk each time is increased by half a glass, but the time interval between the consumption is increased. In short, the patient must consume six liters of milk in a day. This method is effective because milk is very rich in calcium, an element that is very essential in hasty recovery from tuberculosis.

Extract a teaspoonful of mint juice, and mix it with an equal amount of honey and double the amount of malt vinegar. Add all of this to about a cupful of carrot juice and stir the liquids completely. This must be taken thrice a day as tonic, along with the medicines the doctor prescribes. It works on several levels. It increases the tenacity of the lungs so that they produce discharges and expel out the congestion, increases the body resistance to infection and also makes the body stronger to face the onslaught of the heavy drugs needed to be taken. This is one of the important natural remedy for tuberculosis.

Another good diet for tuberculosis is to prepare a dish of bottlegourd and consume it on a daily basis when affected by tuberculosis. Bottlegourd is the best vegetable for increasing the body's resistance to the disease.

Home remedy for tuberculosis - Take the leaves of the drumstick tree and add them to a vessel of water. Then bring the water to a boil. When the water starts boiling, allow it to boil for a few minutes more. When the boiling is done, bring it down and allow it to cool. Consume this soup when it is still a bit warm. It can be flavored with salt, pepper and a dash of lemon juice. This must be done first thing in the morning.

If the tuberculosis is becoming severe and the patient is not responding to medicines, then the patient should be given banana or plantain juices on an empty stomach in the morning, and then thrice more in the day. This must of course be kept in supplementation with the medicines already being taken.

Another good home remedy for tuberculosis is to extract the juice of an orange and add a tablespoonful of honey to it. Add a pinch of salt. Have this juice early in the morning each day. This increases the resistance of the body and prevents the possibility of secondary infections.

Tuberculosis remedy - The miraculous properties of the Indian gooseberry (amalaki, Emblica officinalis) in the treatment of several diseases are just too much well-known. It is also very beneficial in the treatment of tuberculosis. Amalaki is the richest source of vitamin C. The juice of a single berry is extracted and mixed with an equal amount of honey. This is consumed early in the morning each day without consuming anything else. Apart from treating the tuberculosis itself, this treatment helps in reviving the lost energies of the body.

A person with tuberculosis must take a glassful of the juice of pineapple everyday. This juice has the capacity to dissolve the mucus within the chest cavity and reduce the congestion. Hence, regular intake of pineapple juice helps in the early treatment of tuberculosis. This is a good tuberculosis treatment.

Mix some sugar candy and ghee in butter. Blend them properly. Eat this mixture several times a day. It helps in the fast recovery from tuberculosis.

Take some large black raisins and add some sugar to it. Then add a sprinkling of black pepper on it. Grind all of these thoroughly to form a fine powder. This powder must be had in a tablespoonful quantity twice a day. It helps the congestion in the chest to clear away and speeds up the recovery from tuberculosis. This is an effective tuberculosis remedy.

Add five pieces of long pepper in a glass of milk. Add some sugar to it. Bring this to a boil. When properly boiled, bring it down from the flame and cool it to room temperature. This must be given to the tuberculosis patient twice a day. Consumption of this will help against the related problems of tuberculosis such as cough, cold, chills, fever, etc.

In a glassful of warm water, add about ten leaves of the holy basil (tulsi, Ocimum sanctum), some salt, cumin seeds and asafetida. This solution must be consumed thrice each day. Continuing this treatment for a few days increases the body's tenacity and helps in quick recovery.
