What Is A Wart?

A wart is a tumor, usually small in size, rough on the outside and resembles a cauliflower because of the fact it usually has a white top. Warts are very common and usually cause by the virus called Human Papillomavirus. Warts are very contagious and can be spread though human contact. Warts can also be passed on by the use of towels and other objects. Warts usually disappear within a few months but can last for years. Warts also can reappear later.

Types of Warts

There are several different types of warts and they can appear in different areas of the body. Flat warts are a flat, small and smooth wart that usually appear on the neck, face, wrist, hands and feet and are tan or flesh colored. Filiform warts are often found on the face, and are frond like projections that grow very quickly. Plantar warts are found on the feet, usually in the pressure point of the soles. They are often times painful and have black dots or specks in the middle.

Mosic warts are groups or clusters of Plantar warts and still found on the soles of the feet. Periungual warts are found on the margins of the nails on the hand. They are often peeling or rough. Periungual warts can change the shape of the nail by growing and moving the nail or even causing the nail to become somewhat detach from the nail bed.

Home Remedies For Warts Using Duct Tape

Although there are many home remedies for warts duct tape has a very high success rate. They way you use duct tape to cure a wart is by taking a piece of duct tape (medical tape also works well) and place the duct tape over the wart, leaving it there for a week. Using duct tape is similar to a procedure done in a doctor’s office using salicylic acid pads. Theoretically, the reason duct tape works as one of the home remedies for warts is because the rubber acid on the duct tape stimulates the immune system and irrate or bother the affected skin a different way from what the wart is doing. Although nothing has been set in stone as to why duct tape works it is one of the easiest and most useful natural remedy for warts.

Home Remedies For Warts Using Vitamins

Warts treatment - Vitamin A can be applied right to the wart. By taking a gel capsule vitamin A and squeezing the gel onto the wart once a day. You can also apply vitamin C to the affected area. Crush a few vitamin C pills in a small bowl, add a small amount of water to make a paste, apply the paste to the wart and cover with a band-aid to keep the vitamin C paste from rubbing off. The high amount of acidity of ascorbic acid from the vitamin C can kill the virus that is causing the wart. One thing to keep in mind is that even though the vitamin C will help cure the wart it can also irrate the surrounding skin. It is best to only cover the wart and try to steer clear of the skin around it. This is one of the useful diet for warts.

Other Home Remedies For Warts

Other home remedy for warts that you may want to try are things that you probably already have in your home. Try soaking a lemon peel in apple cider with a bit of salt for 1-2 weeks and then apply or rub the lemon peel to on the wart. You can also try to tape a piece of banana peel to the affected area. Not only will the banana peel help to cure the wart it can also cushion the wart while it is healing. Another home remedy for warts is to rub a piece of white chalk or a peeled potato on the wart.

Warts treatment - While treating a wart you need to remember to keep the area clean even in between treatments. You should also keep the area dry and free of moisture. It is also good to keep the wart and surrounded area padded in case you bump it or has to walk on it. This will decrease the pain.
