Using face mask to have a refreshing look is an age old process. Face masks not only clean, nourish and revitalize the skin but also cause glowing affect. The preparation of these face masks is quite easy. What you need is to pick some natural ingredients from your home and follow the preparation methods before applying these effective masks on your face. Application of these face masks is simple, either smear it on the face or massage it for a couple of minutes and let it dry for 15-20 minutes, then wash off with lukewarm or cool water.

Although face masks are made up of natural ingredients but its better to ensure that your skin is not sensitive to any of them. Those having oily or acne prone skins are recommended to use clay-based masks which are helpful in balancing out the skin. Similarly, face masks containing ingredients such as glycerin, honey and oils are good for dry skin. While ginseng or green tea masks produce excellent result in soothing skin.

Types of face masks

Autumn Apple Facial Mask

Mash ¼ of an apple and mix it with one teaspoon of honey and one tablespoon of oatmeal. Apply this mixture to your face and let it dry for 10 minutes and rinse off.

Avocado Facial Mask

Take half avocado. Mash it and on your face and wash off after 15-20 minutes with cool water.

Banana, Honey and Yogurt Facial Mask

Take half banana and mash it with fork. Mix mashed banana with one tablespoon of honey and two tablespoons of yogurt. Apply this mixture on the face and let it dry for 15-20 minutes. Then wash off with cool water. This is one of the useful method for homemade face masks.

Banana Oatmeal Mask

Take a medium to large peeled banana and mash 1/3 to ½ cup of oatmeal to it. Apply this mixture on the face and rinse off after 1-20 minutes with warm water.

Banana and Vitamin E Mask

Take a medium to large peeled banana and mash it. Then take four vitamin E gel caps and squeeze their liquid into mashed banana. Apply this mixture on the face avoiding the eye area. Wash off with warm water after 10 minutes and pat dry. This is one of the effective way to make face masks.

Brown Sugar and Milk Mask

Take ¼ cup of brown sugar and 1-2 tablespoons of milk and mix them well. Massage this mixture to the freshly cleansed face for at least one minute. Then let it dry for 15 minutes and wash off with warm water followed by pat dry.

Nourishing Facial Mask

Mix one egg and one teaspoon almond oil well and apply it on the face. Let it dry for 15 minutes and then wash off with cool water.

Grapefruit Facial Mask

Take one egg white and beat it till it becomes fluffy. Then add one teaspoon sour cream and one teaspoon grapefruit juice to it. Apply this mixture on the face for 15 minutes and then wash off with warm water. This is one of the best natural face mask.

Cucumber and Yogurt Facial Mask

Take half cucumber and one tablespoon yogurt. Puree both the ingredients in a blender and then apply the mixture on the face. Let it dry for 15-20 minutes and then wash off with cool water.

Orange Yogurt Facial Mask

Take one teaspoon plain yogurt and juice of ¼ of orange. Mix the two ingredients well and apply it on the face. Wash off after five minutes.

Papaya Facial Mask

Papaya is very important and natural ingredient for face masks. It consists of a strong enzyme called papain which dissolves oil and dead skin cells. So, first take one papaya and peel and remove its seeds. Then chop it into pieces before putting into the food processor. Puree it until it becomes fine. Apply half tablespoon this papaya on face.

Strawberries and Cream Facial Mask

Take 4-5 medium sized ripe strawberries, two teaspoons of heavy cream and one teaspoon honey. Puree all these ingredients in a blender well. Then apply it on the face and let it dry for 10 minutes. Wash off with cool water.

Homemade Clay Mask

Mix one and a half teaspoons of green clay and half teaspoon of kaolin clay. Add one and a half tablespoon of Aloe Vera gel, one tablespoon of rosewater and two drops of rose essential oil into the mixture. Refrigerate this mixture for four weeks and then apply it on the face regularly.
