Men Skin Care

Men Skin Care

It is common thinking that taking care of skin is a prerogative of girls. But for healthy skin and good looks, men too must devote some time to take care of their skin. For ages, men believed that by merely shaving their beard and applying some sunscreen is enough to keep their skin in good condition. And therefore, they preferred to strengthen their muscles in gym for attractive physical appearance. But since skin works as the outermost defensive part of the body and combat against germs and various types of infections, men skin care becomes equally significant.

As aging occurs, skin starts sagging and loosing its shine and before wrinkles and other skin problems make your skin worse, it’s better to take care of it intensively. Men skin care as compared to women does not take much time. All they need is to follow some simple tips that can help them shape their skin without spending inordinate amount of money in expensive skin care products.

For those who are new to the skin care techniques, it’s recommended to know about the type of your skin fist. Avoid using deodorant or harsh soap and prefer some mild soap followed by rinsing off with cold water. Use suitable cleansers and rinse off your skin with lukewarm water at least 3-4 times a week. You can also use a washcloth dampened in water to rinse of your face. Then pat dry your skin with a soft towel followed by applying some good moisturizing cream. This process will clean the pores and make your skin fresh.

Shaving should always be done in right manner. For those who use shaving blade, first moisten your face with hot water as if a thin film of water has been coated prior to application of shaving cream. Let the cream settle in properly before you start shaving. It’s better to use shaving cream instead of applying liquid. Your shaving razor should always be sharp with double or triple blade attached to it for smooth shaving. Always use cold water to wash off your face after shaving. Using electric razor is another option for shaving but first put on shaving lotion on your face so that your shave could move smoothly. This also reduces the likeliness of burning affect as well as irritation which are normally said to be the side effects of electric shaving. This is one of the useful skin care advice.

Men, as against women, are more exposed to sun, wind, environmental pollution and chemicals. The ultraviolet rays are harmful for skin. If you expose your skin without protection for short duration, then along with sunburn, you may also suffer from tanning. While, if the skin faces sunlight for longer durations, then it becomes more prone to serious skin diseases like skin cancer. Hence, to prevent skin damage due to these external factors, always put on some sunscreen containing aloe and moisturizers if you know you'll be outside for a while. A SPF factor of 15 should do the job.

Taking healthy diet is another important factor skin care for men. A balanced diet allows your skin to retain its elasticity longer. Consume plenty of fresh and leafy vegetables as well as seasonal fruits, because they consist of different types of anti-oxidants that prevent skin from damaging. Avoid consuming greasy and fried foods and use olive oil for cooking instead of butter. This is one of the effective natural skin care.

Always keep yourself hydrated by consuming at least 6-8 glasses of water as well as other liquids daily. Although, it is a fact that a sizable chunk of your body's cells contain over 90% of water, but still drinking adequate amount of water is the best and most effective way to keep your skin healthy. You can also drink a lot of fruit juice and other liquids. But avoid consuming beverages such as alcohol because these drinks will dehydrate you.

Another men skin care factor that all men would love to do is exercise. Even if you are not a fitness freak some simple exercise or yoga or aerobics can help maintaining the health of your skin. A regular exercise ensures that your pores remain open and clean. In addition, your metabolism also increases with the exercise. This is one of the useful way for mens grooming.
