Skin Moisturizing

Skin Moisturizing

Skin moisturizers not only make your skin supple and beautiful but also reduce water loss from the epidermis. Although sun damage cannot be reversed by applying moisturizers but they do prevent further dryness. There is an occlusive layer on the epidermis called stratum corneum that waterproofs the skin. The water content in the stratum corneum varies between 10-30%. As the stratum corneum dries, it starts loosing its luster and becomes dry skin. Skin that has low water content becomes parched and is more prone to both bacterial and fungal infection.
