Candida

Candida

Candida is actually a yeast-like fungus that usually exists in our body, especially in gastrointestinal tract, pharynx, mouth and even vaginal part of females. So far, candida was not considered to be dangerous to the health but the deeper studies about it have revealed its presence in overabundance can lead to several long-lasting diseases. In spite of candida becoming a serious complication people remain unaware because they do not even know that it lives in their body. And a majority of time even the doctor fails to diagnose the excessive presence candida and declare that an individual is either suffering from hypochondria or any psychological problem due to stressful lifestyle.

Candida Symptoms

The proliferation of candida or entry of any other microorganisms like bacteria, virus or fungus in our body takes place only when our immune system becomes weak due to various reasons. Candida can be found alimentary canal, pharynx, mouth, plicae, genital areas of males and females, etc. This complication is characterized by too many purplish spots that can cause itching sensation, especially at borders. These symptoms sometimes confuse an individual that he/she is suffering from dermatitis. Other major symptoms of overgrowth of candida are exfoliation of the skin and formation of pustules around the spots.

This type of disorder is found in both males and females and can target any people of all age-group. Still, there are specific categories of people who are more prone to this complication like kids who get skin rashes due to their diapers, females who are pregnant but continue to take oral contraceptives, people who spend a majority of their time working in damp condition, people who are suffering from a disorder or defect of metabolism like diabetes, people who are facing obesity problem and people who are infected by human immunodeficiency virus.

Candida Causes

Candida albicans are the commonest variety of candida that exist in human body and rather plays key role in forming equilibrium with some microorganisms which are also good for body. But, once the candida albicans start growing beyond normal they can cause serious problem in the body. Candia albicans in its aggressive form invades circulatory system from where they can easily target different parts of the body. However, candida albicans mostly multiplies in the hot and humid condition and therefore the parts of the body which remain damp are more prone to get affected by this complication. Candida albicans also gives out various types of toxins when they aim any organ exacerbating the condition. This disorder becomes communicable if it targets mucosae or genital areas of the body and can diffuse to other humans either through sexual intercourse or when anyone uses personal belongings of an infected individual like towels, bed sheets, etc.

Candida Diagnosis

After examining the external symptoms of your body your doctor would also take out a sample of the skin from affected area to confirm that there is overabundance of candida in your body. Those who are exposed to damp working condition for long hours are also likely to have complication like dermatitis but this may be actually due to candida. Although the infection sometimes extends to nails due to which they break. Similarly, candida diffuses rapidly in those who are HIV positive and can lead to serious problem like candidiasis of the mucous membranes and skin. Therefore, the doctor will take into consideration all the symptoms before beginning the treatment.

Candida Treatment

As soon as you see any evident symptom of this disorder, you should immediately contact your doctor to quickly start the treatment. To curb the infection, the doctor would first regulate your diabetes apart from asking you to shed weight and maintain complete hygiene. He may also advise you to apply some fungus combating creams over the itching spots to clear them. In case, the infection enters into bloodstream then the doctor can also give you injection for effective result. However, this disorder tends to recur frequently if candida gets favorable condition to flourish again.
