Malaria

Malaria is caused when an infected Anopheles mosquito bites an individual and transmits sporozoan parasites in him/her. A sudden uncontrollable attack of shivering and fever can be evident indicator of malaria. The malaria parasite is also known as Plasmodium. These parasites procreate in the liver followed by attacking red blood cells. The timely treatment of malaria is must because otherwise it could be fatal as its severity may result in interruption of blood supply to the vitalses. Sometimes, many medicines aimed to treat malaria may not cure it because the parasites tend to build up resistance to such medicines.

Malaria Disease becomes more serious problem for pregnant women and a slight carelessness could result into miscarriage and sometimes premature delivery. Hence, the pregnant women should immediately consult their doctor to take proper medicine if they visit to any malaria-prone area and find some malarial symptoms.

Similarly, children, either residing or visiting in malaria-prone regions, should be promptly given necessary drugs to treat malaria according to their age and weight. It is better to consult your physician to give correct dose of the drugs to your child because even a heavy dose could be fatal.

Malaria Symptoms

If your head aches severely followed by nauseating feeling and when you experience successive stages of chills and fever including a fit of shivering or shaking, you should go to physician who will diagnose the problem whether it actually malaria or something else. Blackwater fever is another form of malaria and is characterized by kidney damage resulting in dark urine and could be very severe and often fatal. Similarly, cerebral malaria directly impact the brain and the doctor diagnoses it by finding the signs like weakness characterized by a lack of vitality or energy, a sudden occurrence (or recurrence) of a disease, etc. Jungle fever also falls under the category of malaria and is usually occur in tropical regions.

Malaria Treatment

The doctor will first take out each and every detail of the affected person as well will ensure minutely about malaria like how severe is the infection, which specie of the malarial parasite has attacked, the age and gender of the patient and whether the patient’s body is ready for the malaria treatment or not. It is also necessary to know about the geographical area where the infection has occurred so that proper medication could be given. Therefore, it is recommended that as soon as you find any of the malarial symptoms in your body, rush to your doctor to get diagnosed and treated at the earliest. Malaria, in the beginning, can be treated successfully but if it advances or could not be diagnosed at right time, there is more likeliness of fatality according to the seriousness of the disease.

Malaria Prevention

Mosquitoes are normally very active during early morning and evening time. So, try to protect yourself from mosquito bite during these hours.

The more your body parts are exposed to the mosquitoes, the more you are likely to get stung by them so always wear clothes that cover you properly like full-sleeved shirts and full-pants. Since, mosquitoes are more attracted towards dark colors, it is recommended to wear clothes with lighter color.

Always wear shoes with socks when you go outside to protect your feet from mosquito bite.

Always sleep inside mosquito net to keep mosquitoes at bay. You can also use some mosquito-repellants in your room, but avoid using it excessively. This is one of the best method to cure for malaria.

There are mosquito repellants you can spray in your clothes as well as creams you can apply on the exposed parts of your body to prevent mosquito.

Do not travel in malaria-prone areas and even if you do, then take proper preventive medication prescribed by your physician.
