Vulvodynia

If you are feeling uncomfortable in doing your normal routine activities because of acute pain in your vulva then you are likely to be suffering from vulvodynia. Itching sensation coupled with inflammation is other prominent feature of this complication. You may also try not to have sexual intercourse with your partner because of severe pain. However, do not hide this problem and discuss it with your partner before going to the doctor otherwise your relationship might be on stake because of this trivial matter. This disorder can persist for long duration resulting in your frustration but it does not pose threat to any serious problem.

Symptoms of Vulvodynia

There is no specific and visible symptom in your affected area except light redness and swelling. However, you can feel that there is some major problem in vulva when it pains and itches. The pain can also be felt in the pelvic region.

Causes of Vulvodynia

Vulvodynia does not occur due to any virus, bacteria or fungus hence it is not a contagious problem. But the complication can appear as a result of existing or recent infection in the genital area. You are also prone to this disorder if you are allergic or your skin is sensitive. Another cause could be hormonal changes during menopause. Sometimes, persistent inflammation of the vagina can lead to vulvodynia.

Diagnosis of Vulvodynia

A number of women feel pain in the genital area, especially in vulva, for more than ninety days and this symptom is a clear indicator for any doctor to diagnose that the complication is vulvodynia. Since the problem does not have any apparent symptom, a majority of women do not comprehend that it is a disease that require proper treatment. In addition, females usually loath to discuss their problem with doctor unless they are greatly affected by it.

It is advisable to go to the doctor for diagnosis because sometimes apart from vulvodynia, an individual is likely to get affected from secondary bacterial infection that may worsen the problem. Hence, when a person will go to the doctor, he will examine the affected area carefully and may also take out a sample of the tissues for laboratory test.

Vitiligo Treatment

Every woman responds differently to the same vulvodynia treatment method. Initially, the doctor will slough off the superficial affects on the affected area that are usually caused by harsh soaps and other products that contain harmful chemicals. Thereafter, the doctor may give some medicated cream or lotion to apply on the affected area topically. He may also advise to take oral medication or injections in some cases.

Diet is also a significant factor and a person may feel irritation in the genital areas including vulva due to consumption of certain foods and beverages. Hence, consult your doctor who will advise proper diet if you are suffering from vulvodynia. Laser therapy is also used to get rid of pain but such techniques can sometimes cause side effects apart from aggravating the existing complication.

Prevention of Vulvodynia

Use cloth pad dampened in cool water and put it on the affected area get rid of itchiness and reduce severe pain.

Using harsh soaps to clean the vital organs can cause irritation hence it is advisable to rinse such organs merely with water followed by drying them completely so that any moisture left may not cause any infection. Similarly, application of certain skin care products in the genitals should also be avoided.

Always prefer cotton undergarment instead of synthetic ones and they should be slightly loose because this will help evaporate the perspiration from your genital area properly keeping it dry. This is one of the useful vitiligo cure.

Even the mildest pain in the vulva while making sexual relation can lead to vulvodynia in the long run hence it is better to lubricate your vagina before having sex.

Keep yourself fit through yoga or any other type of physical exercise as such activities comfort you from pain. However, if you find any slightest pain in your pelvic region or vulva due to any step of exercise, avoid doing it.
